07 May 2010. Philadelphia, PA – Uproar Records has broken new ground this week as the very first label to register with Comedy Exchange Association (CXA). CXA is a new non-profit performing rights organization that provides royalties for comedic writers and labels whose works are used on AM / FM and other terrestrial radio broadcasts.

Uproar founder David Drozen views the relationship with CXA as a tremendous boon for comedians, stating, “By collecting copyright royalties for ’spoken word’ and ‘musical comedy’ from terrestrial/analog radio, CXA fills the gap that currently exists between Sound Exchange and ASCAP/BMI. CXA will provide for comedians the same rights, protection and compensation that is currently provided for all other performing artists being played on terrestrial radio.”

The label boasts over 100 titles, featuring the best contemporary and urban comedians including, among others, Margaret Cho, Brian Regan, John Pinette, Alonzo Bodden, Kathleen Madigan, Bobby Collins, Pablo Francisco and the classic National Lampoon Comedy titles from the 70’s and 80’s. Comedy Exchange Association registers both labels and comedic writers. For more information, please contact CXA at 267.232.1300 or at info@mycomedyexchange.com.
